Here is a useful example of where QuickChek could be applied. Automobile lead acid batteries are sold in increments of useful life such as 36 months. The average motorist does not remember when the battery was purchased and does not think about when the battery needs to be replaced. Using QuickChek in the auto battery recharging system, an alert driven indication could be built into the dashboard of the car. This indicator light would tell the driver when the battery needs replacing. Much like the "out of gaslight" which appears in the fuel gauge when the gas tank nears empty. A second example is that cellphones provide false comfort with their three bar full charged "gas gauges". As a battery gets older its ability to hold charge decreases due to an electrochemical event called capacity fade. QuickChek would provide the consumer with an indication that the cell phone battery may be fully charged. However its useful talk time is low as the battery is no longer at the electrochemical capacity it was when it was new. Alert-based applications on QuickChek provde consumer friendly indications when it is time to replace the battery. QuickChek allows the consumer, user or motorist to be proactive in replacing batteries before they fail versus reactive.
